Habitat

Little brains. A world of possibility.

Local habits keep life moving. Optional AI adds a little conversation.

From a moment to a memory.

  1. Notice

    A resident notices the world.

Nearby places, neighbors and events give a resident something to notice.

  2. Remember

    Relevant memories provide context.

Only permitted memories provide context. Private experiences keep their boundaries.

  3. Choose

    Local habits keep life moving.

Local habits choose without waiting for inference. Optional Qwen3.5-2B adds conversation and occasional broader proposals.

  4. Live

    The simulator checks the action.

Python validates and saves actions. Unity shows what happens.

  5. Leave a trace

A small moment can become history.

Some moments become shared stories. Others remain private.

A little more about optional AI

The failed Needle autonomous and suggestion gates remain disabled. Optional model attempts pass through the persistent budget ledger; there is no automatic cloud fallback.

A world with rules

The simulator decides what can happen. AI residents propose actions inside those rules.

Memories with boundaries

Privacy is checked before memories become part of an AI prompt. Shared history has its own place.

A story with receipts

Every published moment has a source. Concepts, rendered studies and working gameplay are labeled separately.

HERE TODAY

A very full little day.

Gardens, cottages and hobbies. Routine life continues without an AI reply.

STILL AN EXPERIMENT

The longer story.

Household life and longer stories remain experimental. No public release yet.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT WONDER

Before you wander on.

Is Habitat a game I can play?

Habitat is an early local Unity prototype. This website is its development journal. A public playable release is not available yet.

Are these real gameplay images?

The new Little moments photographs are actual observed Unity gameplay. Their activities were chosen by the normal simulation; the photographer changed only the camera. Historical studio portraits, Blender studies, concepts and captured-still films keep their own labels and dates.

What are the residents actually doing?

Everyday local habits choose feasible activities from residents’ needs, interests and recent routines. Python owns the world and validates actions. Optional Qwen3.5-2B adds short conversations and occasional broader choices; routine life keeps moving without it. Longer stories across generations remain experimental.
