A little thought, a little diary
Each neighbor now has a passing thought and a little diary. Small moments they really experience become dated notes you can return to.

Full entry & measurements
What stays with a neighbor after a small day? Select someone and open Diary, or choose Life → Read their diary. A lilac passing-thought card describes their current activity and needs; short paper notes remember fishing, meals, greetings, home visits, rest and other completed milestones. The thoughts are authored simulator narration, labeled “From their activity and needs.” This increment does not generate model-written personal reflections or expose hidden reasoning. The latest 80 notes persist with each resident, newest first, dated by the valley clock. Existing saves begin empty at their current simulator time: old private memories and historical events are not backfilled into invented diary entries. Notes come from validated simulator events and completed transitions. Opening the page adds no inference, camera or simulator effects. Private interviews, suggestions and conversation text are excluded. Authenticated access, detached responses, resident/timeline request guards and capture suppression keep notes out of public views, prompts, history and static exports. The overview contains only the reviewed synthetic examples shown here. The native Unity visuals use a separate public synthetic fixture with real validated activity milestones. Both 1920 × 1080 Metal/URP frames were produced by unity-source-5e0c096916f2-20261015195613 on 15 October 2026: 20261015T195833332123-048d28c63590 at 19:58:33 UTC shows Pip fishing with two notes; 20261015T200005541510-f5e111a2a60b at 20:00:05 UTC shows a newly earned catch and a changed passing thought. A separate runtime check establishes the update; the stills establish appearance. Native interactions checked the fourth tab, scrolling to the retention footer and switching to Ember's own greeting note. The later running-save UI inspection confirmed the restored game and four-tab resident panel; computer-use window targeting then blocked the final Diary click. The isolated native fixture had already verified that interaction. Measured snapshot, 15 October 2026, source-5e0c096916f2: (1) the whole Python suite passed 593 tests in 39.81 seconds with unchanged source, recorded in tests.xml/tests-source.json and [private evidence location omitted]; (2) all 19 Unity diary checks passed at 19:55:04 UTC, covering clock formatting, stale resident/timeline/generation responses, normal-capture suppression, wrapped and 80-note scroll content, loading/error layout and exact fixture restoration; (3) Pip's fixture notes increased from 2 to 3 as simulator time advanced from 90 to 91.00112037500367 seconds, measured at 19:58:34 UTC in live-check.json; (4) that isolated fixture recorded zero local and zero Codex calls, with both Needle gates disabled. These counts are scoped to the fixture, not the user's inference usage. No sustained performance or complete accessibility acceptance is claimed. The evidence library retains every meaningful visual iteration in session resident-diary-20261015. First Editor page 20261015T194940034462-6228e9cfa546 was captured at 1920 × 1080 on source-41396a768d0b; compact Editor page 20261015T195539038329-a12a55eab1e8 is 960 × 600 on source-5e0c096916f2. Its generic title says Native game UI, while its source/conditions correctly identify Editor Play mode; it is presented as Editor evidence. Native frames are the reference for delivered text appearance. Each exact staged image and sidecar was individually inspected and privacy approved. Earlier sources and resolutions remain attached to their original frames. The first Python run passed 592 tests and failed one old archive-equality assertion; the assertion now verifies unchanged old data plus the new empty journal migration. The first Editor check helper failed on reflection flags; correcting the helper produced the final 19 passes. The original running habitat was briefly paused for the update, then restarted with its own save. Before resuming, residents (apart from the new empty journals), archives, objects, simulator time, provider-file hash and all three inference ledgers matched the protected post-pause snapshot. Only restart revision, pause reason and transient cognition bookkeeping changed. The same timeline was resumed and advancing at 20:05:14 UTC; both Needle gates remain disabled. The public fixture never replaced the user's save. Source details and evidence: docs/resident-diary.md. A useful next question is how readable the diary remains across a longer mix of everyday routines. The actual static journal renderer also passed all 16 isolated Node checks at 20:07:10 UTC on 15 October 2026. This validates evidence reference handling and preservation of full notes, not a new browser-layout result. The local offline export is regenerated from reviewed evidence; no internet edition is published by this increment.
