A thought to follow

Choose a neighbor and a steady thought bubble follows their current activity and needs. It stays separate from spoken dialogue and works without model calls.

Full entry & measurements

What is this neighbor occupied with right now? Selecting a resident now shows a steady, authored thought from their current activity and needs without opening Diary. Switching neighbors switches the thought immediately. Pause holds its simulation timestamp. The projection reads no private memories, diary entries, conversations, prompts or model reasoning. Ordinary captures and world overlays suppress it. Actual Unity Editor frames retain two iterations in session resident-thoughts-20261015. The first, source thought-ui-source-4804b3f66993 at 22:37:46 Europe/Zurich, exposed name-badge overlap in the compact view. The second, source thought-ui-source-071c282e860d at 22:40:22–23, moves the card beside the resident when space above is limited. Seven individually reviewed captures preserve that work. The three attached final frames show synthetic needs in an isolated simulator fixture, rather than observed autonomous behavior. Small bodies can scroll; the current thought takes priority when optional labels cannot fit. One intended speech frame remains private because its greeting had disappeared before capture. Full evidence and source references: docs/resident-thoughts.md. Measured snapshot, 15 October 2026: • 86/86 focused Python tests passed in 2.88 seconds at 22:28:59, including 48 new thought cases. Scope: thoughts, diary, simulation and privacy/API boundaries. Sources: [private evidence location omitted] and python-sources.json. • 20/20 Unity behavior checks passed at 22:40:22 on thought-ui-source-071c282e860d. Source: [private evidence location omitted]; selection, changing captions, privacy, reconnection, pointer blocking and unchanged snapshots. These synchronous checks do not establish rendering. • Three actual frame sizes passed visibility, world-area containment and detail-panel separation: 1920 × 1080, 960 × 600 and 440 × 360. Source: visual-checks.json, same source/date. Its separate speech row measures only separation; unset containment values in that row are not additional measurements. • Continuous-cap and zero-cap HTTP cases requested zero provider or camera calls and left accounting and saved simulation state unchanged. Sources: the focused test suite and recorded source hashes. Earlier whole-project test totals remain historical. The Mac build unity-thought-ui-source-f35fc9015b61-20261015204249 succeeded at 22:42:55 with zero errors and one warning; the source fingerprint was unchanged across the build. At 22:44:14 the closed, paused operator runtime was refreshed with its timeline, clock, resident IDs and provider configuration preserved. The original habitat now includes the thought field. The game remains closed and paused; both Needle gates remain disabled. Sources: player-build.json, delivery/after-build source receipts and runtime-refresh.json. All times are Europe/Zurich. Next: observe readability across a longer mixture of ordinary resident routines.
