Smaller pictures. Same little world.

Screenshots, portraits and library pictures now use lighter previews. Open any picture to see its original.

Full entry & measurements

Can visitors browse the whole village journal without downloading full-size screenshots for every card? Responsive WebP previews now cover the remaining published screenshots, journal visuals, character and library posters, creator portrait and film poster. Comparison images and 3D loading posters use previews too. Existing mood-art compression remains in place. Original images, source identities and dates remain unchanged; opening an image deliberately still loads its full reviewed original. Static English/German and offline pages share the same preview library. No model, runtime, resident state, crop or showcase selection changed. No other project contributor was active when file ownership was checked. On 16 October 2026 the final reviewed image-previews manifest contained 304 source images including this increment’s three screenshots, totaling 217,880,524 original bytes versus 16,418,262 bytes when selecting the largest preview for each: 92.5 percent smaller. These sums describe the library, not one page transfer or measured loading time. The initial pass covered 301 existing pictures; the same pipeline then included the three approved delivery screenshots. Every derivative decoded with matching dimensions, no upscale/crop, preserved alpha channel and no embedded image metadata. The current source selection is opaque, so no claim of demonstrated transparent-source appearance is made. Eleven contact sheets and exact staged screenshots with their sidecars were inspected before the new manifest was pinned. The scoped Python publication, localization, static-page, image-boundary, website-sync, overview and export suite passed 146 tests in 32.47 seconds. Chromium 151 passed 81 route/interaction checks on frozen preview image-compression-db96ddba66d874e6: six routes in both languages, JavaScript on/off, compressed visible images, no initial PNG/JPEG requests, no overflow, full-original opening and correct paused cottage 3D preview. Initial portrait assertions ran before lazy decode; awaiting decode corrected the harness. Journal and motion Node regressions also passed. The deterministic candidate builder reuses unchanged derivatives, preserves originals and never changes publication pins by itself. The exact manifest records each source hash plus variant path, size and digest; the local server validates just the requested preview rather than reopening the entire asset library per image. Before build image-compression-0b6f7fe1efc3d603 and after build image-compression-db96ddba66d874e6 are retained with the attached screenshots. This is website delivery work, not new simulation acceptance. Next is to keep new reviewed images on the same compression path as the journal grows. Actual publication and live byte verification are recorded separately in the website-sync receipt.
